Excellent thread AF. This one hit home for me as my mother lived in Florence as a child until they fled to Bologna during the middle of WWII. She used to talk about the Medici family (and it wasn’t nice) so Italians knew the history that was never taught to Americans. Thank you for your research - the stories my mom shared are becoming more clear.
