GOD'S OLIVE TREE
The Olive Tree in the book of Romans is the best visual representation on how the New Covenant has replaced the Old Covenant in the Bible
The foundation of my research is based on the New Testament and the teaching of Jesus Christ. My main purpose in life is to guide others in their journey of understanding the true nature of this world.
Jesus Christ came onto this Earth and fulfilled the laws of the Old Covenant and then died on the cross. This allowed every person on Earth to enter the Kingdom of God through the faith of Jesus Christ alone.
During my journey I have noticed many that are willing to learn more about the Bible but have been misguided on certain things.
To help others on their journey I will show that:
Jesus was a Jew
Non-believers of Jesus hijacked the Jewish faith and created Judaism
Judaism is the Synagogue of Satan
Judaism is Zionism
Followers of Judaism are not the Chosen People
Messianic Jews are not Christian
If people are confused with central themes in the New Testament how can they get closer to God?
Jesus was a Jew
In Matthew 1:1-16 is shows the lineage of Jesus Christ all the way back to Abraham. This proves he was the Jewish Messiah from the line of David. Jesus, his apostles, disciples and early followers were all Jewish because they were waiting for the Jewish Messiah .
Jesus family tree shows it came from the Tribe of Judah Matthew 1:2:
" . .Abraham became father to Isaac; Isaac became father to Jacob; Jacob became father to Judah . . . 6 . . .Jesʹse became father to David the king.. . . 16 . . .Jacob became father to Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom Jesus was born, who is called Christ."
Jesus Christ came from the Davidic line, which was from the Tribe of Judah. The word Jew is short for the Israelite tribe of Judah. Hebrews 7:14:
"For it is clear that our Lord has descended from Judah, yet Moses said nothing about priests coming from that tribe."
The Messiah coming from the Tribe of Judah began as an Old Testament prophecy in Genesis 49:10:
"The scepter will not depart from Judah, neither the commander’s staff from between his feet, until Shiʹloh comes, and to him the obedience of the peoples will belong."
When Christianity was being formed it consisted of only Jews at first.
So who was John talking about when he said this in Revelation 3:9:
"Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee."
When trying to decipher the Bible it's crucial to know when certain passages were written. For instance Revelation was written during the reign of Roman Emperor Domitian (81 - 96 AD)
During this time period the word 'Christian' in Hebrew and Greek didn't exist yet so when John referenced the 'Jews' in Revelation, he was talking about the followers of Jesus. The first Christians were ALL Jews.
The earliest recorded use of the term "Christianity" was by Ignatius of Antioch around the year 100 AD.
So who was John calling the synagogue of satan?
It was the Jews who were the non-believers of Jesus Christ, who represent modern day Judaism.
Modern day Judaism is the religion of the Pharisees / Sanhedrin who were responsible for the death of Jesus Christ and were evil at their core.
Here is what Jesus said about them in Mathew 23:29-33:
29 You Pharisees and teachers are nothing but show-offs, and you're in for trouble! You build monuments for the prophets and decorate the tombs of good people.
30 And you claim you would not have taken part with your ancestors in killing the prophets.
31 But you prove you really are the relatives of the ones who killed the prophets.
32 So keep on doing everything they did.
33 You are nothing but snakes and the children of snakes! How can you escape going to hell?
If Jesus said this about them, then why are Christians associating the Pharisee religion of Judaism and its followers to the Chosen People of the Bible?
Zionism is Judaism
This confusion has been done on purpose by followers of Judaism / Zionists, people in secret societies or people that lack biblical knowledge. If the world believes the Jews are still the chosen people then they will never understand the importance of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Zionism at its root level is a movement that supports the establishment of a homeland for the Jewish People in Palestine / Israel / Jerusalem. It is literally impossible for a jew to be anti-zionism because it goes against their religious laws.
Every Jew considers the 613 Commandments in the Talmud, Jewish Law and of extreme importance to them. The Talmud is part of the Halakha, the collective body of Jewish religious laws, which also includes the Written and Oral Torah.
The 613 Commandments were created by Jewish Rabbis in Babylon during the 3rd century AD. The Jews who didn’t believe Jesus Christ was the Messiah created these 613 commandments so Christians shouldn’t be following them.
What's interesting is that 343 of the commandments can only be observed at the Temple in Jerusalem, which no longer stands. So every Jew is waiting for the building of 3rd Temple and their Messiah in Jerusalem.
There are only 271 commandments that can be observed today, of which there are 26 commands that can only apply within the Land of Israel. So for a person to be strong in the Jewish Faith, they are forced to go to Israel.
Creating a new humanity was always God’s purpose so what was God’s purpose of giving Israel the law or in Hebrew the Torah?
Paul says in Romans 7 that the commands of the Torah were good and showed God’s will for how Israel was to live. But if you read the storyline of the Torah Israel broke all those commands: the more laws Israel received, the more they replayed the sin of Adam and rebelled.
So even when God gave his people specific moral rules to obey, that did not fix the problem of the sinful human heart. And so paradoxically these rules made Israel even more guilty but Paul said that paradox is the point. God’s goal was to make it crystal clear that it’s evil that has hijacked the human heart and that the Torah, good as it is, could not do a thing about it.
But Paul says in Romans 8 the solution has arrived in Jesus and the Spirit and here’s how: the commands of the Torah acted like a magnifying glass, it focused the problem of the human condition into one place, the people of the Israel. But now Israel’s representative, Jesus the Messiah, has paid for and dealt with all of that sin through his death and his resurrection.
And now Jesus has released his spirit into his new family, to transform their hearts so that they can truly love God and neighbor.
The Jews who didn’t believe Jesus Christ was the Messiah were cut off from the Tree of God the moment he died. This Tree of God is explained in Romans 11 from the New Testament as an Olive Tree . Paul explains that these non-believers can still be grafted into God’s Kingdom through faith in Jesus Christ only.
Below is the entire book of Romans 11 with my own commentary added to try and make it easier for people to understand.
Romans 11
In the first section of Romans 11 Paul explains how God saved Israel from their sins only through their faith in Jesus Christ.
11 So I ask, “God has not rejected his people, has he?” Of course not! I am an Israeli myself, a descendant of Abraham from the tribe of Benjamin.
2 God has not rejected his people whom he chose long ago. Do you not know what the Scripture says in the story about Elijah, when he pleads with God against Israel?
3 “Lord, they have killed your prophets and demolished your altars. I am the only one left, and they are trying to take my life.”
4 But what was the divine reply to him? “I have reserved for myself 7,000 people who have not knelt to worship Baal.”
The 7,000 people represent all the Jews who were believers in Jesus Christ the Messiah.
5 So it is at the present time: there is a remnant, chosen by grace.
6 But if this is by grace, then it is no longer on the basis of actions. Otherwise, grace would no longer be grace.
7 What, then, does this mean?It means that Israel failed to obtain what it was seeking, but the selected group obtained it while the rest were hardened.
Paul is explaining how Israel failed God but the selected group of Jews who believed Jesus was the Messiah obtained God’s Kingdom, while the non-believers became hardened.
8 As it is written, “To this day God has put them into deep sleep. Their eyes do not see, and their ears do not hear.”
9 And David says, “Let their table become a snare and a trap, a stumbling block and a punishment for them.
10 Let their eyes be darkened so that they cannot see, and keep their backs forever bent.”
Paul gives specific examples how Israel failed God in the past.
Paul explains how Israel stumbled with Jesus Christ, which opened the gentiles and the rest of the world to God’s Kingdom.
11 And so I ask, “They have not stumbled so as to fall, have they?” Of course not! On the contrary, because of their stumbling, salvation has come to the gentiles to make the Jews jealous.
12 Now if their stumbling means riches for the world, and if their fall means riches for the gentiles, how much more will their full participation mean!
13 I am speaking to you gentiles. Because I am an apostle to the gentiles, I magnify my ministry
14 in the hope that I can make my people jealous and save some of them.
Paul specifically says that Jews who don’t believe in Jesus need to be saved.
15 For if their rejection results in reconciliation of the world, what will their acceptance bring but life from the dead?
16 If the first part of the dough is holy, so is the whole batch. If the root is holy, so are the branches.
Paul explains that when Jews believe in Jesus Christ, it helps spread to more gentiles.
17 Now if some of the branches have been broken off, and you, a wild olive branch, have been grafted in their place to share the rich root of the olive tree,
Paul mentions ‘branches that have been broken off’ referring to Jews that have turned their back on Jesus Christ. Gentiles represent wild olive branches being grafted in their place through their faith.
18 do not boast about being better than the other branches. If you boast, remember that you do not support the root, but the root supports you.
19 Then you will say, “Branches were cut off so that I could be grafted in.”
20 That’s right! They were broken off because of their unbelief, but you remain only because of faith. Do not be arrogant, but be afraid!
Paul specifically says the branches were broken off due to the Jews unbelief in Jesus Christ. This means anyone who doesn’t believe in Jesus Christ are not part of God’s Kingdom.
21 For if God did not spare the natural branches, he certainly will not spare you, either.
22 Consider, then, the kindness and severity of God: his severity toward those who fell, but God’s kindness toward you—if you continue receiving his kindness. Otherwise, you too will be cut off.
23 If the Jews do not persist in their unbelief, they will be grafted in again, because God is able to graft them in.
24 After all, if you were cut off from what is naturally a wild olive tree, and contrary to nature were grafted into a cultivated olive tree, how much easier it will be for these natural branches to be grafted back into their own olive tree!
Paul explains that if a Gentile can be grafted into God’s new Kingdom through their faith in Jesus Christ, how easy it would be for a Jew if they start believing in Jesus Christ, since they were part of the original tree.
Jesus Christ represents the restoration of the Israelites. Modern day Israel does not represent the restoration of the Israelites.
25 For I want to let you know about this secret, brothers, so that you will not claim to be wiser than you are: Stubbornness has come to part of Israel until the full number of the gentiles comes to faith.
26 In this way, all Israel will be saved, as it is written,“The Deliverer will come from Zion; he will remove ungodliness from Jacob.
27 This is my covenant with them when I take away their sins.”
Paul shows God’s old covenant to Israel by explaining the promise God made of a coming Messiah, who was a descendant of Jacob, who will come from Zion and will take away the sins of the world.
28 As far as the gospel is concerned, they are enemies for your sake, but as far as election is concerned, they are loved for the sake of their ancestors.
29 For God’s gifts and calling never change.
30 For just as you disobeyed God in the past but now have received his mercy because of their disobedience,
31 so they, too, have now disobeyed. As a result, they may receive mercy because of the mercy shown to you.
32 For God has locked all people in the prison of their own disobedience so that he may have mercy on them all.
Paul explains how Gentiles disobeyed God in the past but have now received his mercy through Jesus Christ. Then he goes on to explain how Jews have disobeyed God by not believing Jesus Christ is the Messiah, but can receive mercy if they do become believers.
33 O how deep are God’s riches, and wisdom, and knowledge! How unfathomable are his decisions and unexplainable are his ways!
34 Who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has become his advisor?
35 Or who has given him something only to have him pay it back?”
36 For all things are from him, by him, and for him. Glory belongs to him forever! Amen.
Overall Paul is saying that anyone who believes in Jesus Christ is now part of God’s Kingdom. Always try and put yourself back in time when these passages were written for a better understanding of scripture and history.
Without the Jews who put their faith in Christianity after his death, there would be no religion of Christianity. These were the apostles, disciples, each church members, authors of the New Testament, etc.
God Only Has One Covenant
The Old Covenant of the Old Testament could be broken into 3 components: ceremonial, moral and civil (judicial). When Jesus Christ died for the sins of the world he absorbed the ceremonial and civil components of the Old Covenant.
No longer did Jews have to sacrifice animals in temples or follow Rabbinic Laws.
They only had to put their faith in Jesus Christ, follow 5 of the 10 Commandments and Love Thy Neighbor (Moral Law).
The New Testament explains this in Mathew 19:16-19:
16 Just then a man came up to Jesus and asked, “Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?”
17 “Why do you ask me about what is good?” Jesus replied. “There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, keep the commandments.”
18 “Which ones?” he inquired. Jesus replied, “‘
You shall not murder,
you shall not commit adultery,
you shall not steal,
you shall not give false testimony,
19 honor your father and mother, and
‘love your neighbor as yourself.”
What’s interesting is that Jesus Christ left out the Sabbath. Does this mean the practice of keeping the Sabbath lost its importance after Jesus Christ?
In Matthew 12:6-8 it states:
6 But I tell you, something greater than the Temple is here!
7 If you had known what ‘I want mercy and not sacrifice means, you would not have condemned the innocent,
8 for the Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath.”
In Colossians 2:16-17, Paul explains that the Old Jewish Laws and the Sabbath now reside in Christ:
16 Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day.
17 These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.
The purpose of the Old Covenant was to keep the Israelites in line so God could nurture the Davidic line and get it ready for the Messiah that would save the world from sin.
Once Jesus lived and died on the cross, the Old Covenant was no longer needed because sin could now be erased in a person’t heart by only putting their faith into Jesus Christ. There’s no longer need for animal sacrifices, temples or Rabbinic Law.
I recommend anyone who is curious on this subject to read the entire book of Hebrews in the New Testament. The most important section of that whole book states that the Old Covenant will no longer be used to get into God’s Kingdom, Hebrews 8:6-13:
6 But in fact the ministry Jesus has received is as superior to theirs as the covenant of which he is mediator is superior to the old one, since the new covenant is established on better promises.
7 For if there had been nothing wrong with that first covenant, no place would have been sought for another.
8 But God found fault with the people and said:
“The days are coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and with the people of Judah.9 It will not be like the covenant I made with their ancestors when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt, because they did not remain faithful to my covenant, and I turned away from them, declares the Lord. 10 This is the covenant I will establish with the people of Israel after that time, declares the Lord. I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. 11 No longer will they teach their neighbor, or say to one another, ‘Know the Lord,’ because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest. 12 For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.”
[Jeremiah 31:31-34]
13 By calling this covenant “new,” he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and outdated will soon disappear.
As you can see God mentioned in the Old Testament that Israel had failed him and his Old Covenant, which is why he needed to create a completely new one that would erase sin for everyone.
So the ceremonial / civil components of the Old Covenant are part of the broken branches of the Olive Tree because it is what Jesus Christ absorbed when he died on the cross for our sins.
Now fast forward to modern day and you will notice that there are groups that compare themselves to these early Jews who had faith in Jesus Christ. They call themselves Messianic Jews but their beliefs are much different then the early followers of Jesus Christ.
Messianic Jews are Not Christians
Messianic Jews are very similar to Evangelical Christians because both groups say they are believers in Jesus Christ but are pro-Zionist and believe the followers of Judaism are still the chosen people.
Both Messianic Jews and Evangelicals align more with the broken branches of the Olive Tree (Judaism/Zionism), then with the actual Olive Tree (the New Covenant).
This group tells people they are believers in Jesus Christ but somehow still believe that Judaism represents the Chosen People and that the Old Covenant is the true Covenant - Source
Did you notice in the definition of Messianic Judaism it says their identity is rooted in the Torah (broken branches of the Olive Tree)?
In the Hebrew language, Messianic Jews tend to identify themselves with the terms maaminim ('believers') and yehudim ('Jews') in opposition to being identified as notzrim ('Christians').
The US Navy made a decision that Messianic Jewish chaplains must wear as their insignia the Christian cross, and not the tablets of the law, the insignia of Jewish chaplains. According to Yeshiva World News, the Navy Uniform Board commanded that Michael Hiles, a candidate for chaplaincy, wear the Christian insignia. Hiles resigned from the program, rather than wear the cross.
Eric Tokajer, a spokesman for the Messianic Jewish movement, responded that:
"This decision essentially bars Messianic Jews from serving as chaplains within the U.S. Navy because it would require them to wear an insignia inconsistent with their faith and belief system." - Source
Why is it that Messianic Jews choose to hold the Torah and the Civil Priestly Laws above Christianity? Aren’t they grafting themselves to the broken off branches of the Olive Tree?
Maybe it’s because their only purpose is to trick Christians into believing the Jews are still the chosen people of the Bible so they can support modern day Israel’s need for the building of the 3rd Solomon’s Temple.
Many Christians believe the second coming of Jesus Christ will occur after the building of this temple so they are subconsciously being tricked into thinking the building of the 3rd Solomon’s Temple is good.
Final Thoughts
This thread is extremely necessary for the time we are living in. Christians are being pulled in every direction but many tend to forget the answers are in the New Testament. Just remember that modern day Israel / Judaism represent the Jews who chose not to believer in Jesus Christ and they are still part of those cut down tree branches from 2000 years ago.
From the death of Jesus Christ to today many forces have been infiltrating and confusing Christians and others to not read the Bible. Once someone sits down and puts an effort to understand and read what God’s Kingdom is made of they will understand the truth of the world.
Thanks for joining me on this journey for the truth and I hope you learned something new today.
This is the best explanation I’ve ever seen or heard to understand this relationship between Jews, Jesus and followers of Jesus. Most Christians everywhere don’t understand this.
I’ve just been employed by a ministry that has set out to pray for Israel, yet most know nothing about what is happening or what to pray. Or even if they pray for the salvation of Jews, maybe don’t have a clear understanding of this hardness toward Jesus and their great need for Him. I didn’t either, really.
Sharing around.
From a Christian that had his heart ripped out several years ago, and has found it virtually impossible to read Christian books or articles, this was as good as anything I ever read when I was an avid reader of Christian material. Thank you.
