Freemasonry is known to us today as a secret society but no one knows their history or beliefs. Their secret teachings can be traced to a sinister and ancient force that they praise openly.

I think one thing to note is while the Catholic Church in the west banned the third eye from eastern religions, the church never banned it but monopolized the third eye for themselves and put a Christian facade over it in the form of Ash Wednesday. A lot of Catholicism has the same practices of freemasonry under a Christian facade (notice how Pope Leo XIII has a similar pose as Baphamet). Virgin Mary is worshipped as the moon, Jesus the sun, God as fire.
This series does a good job explaining how all the world religions (barring Christian and Judaism) all came from the Tower of Babel (built in the shape of a ziggurat) and the mystery religion developed during that time.
Masonry is only the public front of certain Gnostic groups. It's nothing special and they don't have any real secret or even any real "knowledge" (gnosis) at all. And actually a lot of things they get completely wrong. They are using a whole bunch ancient symbols and they think they know what they mean but over the ages they actually gotten the original meaning completely wrong and even upside down.
